Mason Capalongo

I’ve wired buildings and built docks. Now I work on the business side: how physical-world technology gets built, sold, and installed.

Open to Summer 2027 roles: operations, partnerships, go-to-market in energy, robotics and infrastructure.

Base Power: how it works, and how it could scale

What do Base Power’s existing Texas partnerships suggest about the most promising commercial-partnership hypotheses for Illinois?

Installer capacity is the strongest hypothesis for Illinois, but public evidence alone can’t pick a partner, and interconnection friction may matter as much as who you partner with.

What I didI designed and art-directed a scroll-driven 3D explanation of how a home battery works, from hardware to outage backup to the grid, built with AI coding tools, and wrote a brief on what Base Power’s Texas partnerships suggest for Illinois.

Worked example: here the per-job result is positive, so volume multiplies it.

Automation Pilot Economics

When is a limited automation pilot economically worth testing for commercial exterior-cleaning work?

Volume cannot rescue negative per-job economics: if an automated job costs more than the manual alternative, more volume only scales the loss.

What I didI built an Excel decision model and a one-page operator summary that cost one representative commercial exterior-cleaning job two ways: manual, and a supervised automation pilot.

SkillsDecision modeling in Excel, threshold analysis, testing the model against 43 cases, writing for operators.

Illustrative inputs, not industry benchmarks. Not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any automation vendor.

Aeolian Harp — Native Species Study

The finished harp rings in two pitch groups near 267 and 319 Hz, far below the birds’ range, but its harmonics reach about 4.5 kHz, up toward it.

What I didI studied the Black-capped Chickadee’s songs and calls, then built and installed a wind-played harp and bird feeder as one sculpture, recorded it in the field and reconstructed it digitally.

About

I’ve worked as an electrician apprentice on the Cornell Ann S. Bowers building and, in 2026, in marine construction, running a barge and building docks. Alongside that, I’ve been a business operations intern at New Life Markets in the Hudson Valley, and I’m studying for a BBA in Entrepreneurship at SUNY New Paltz. Together they’re why I want to work on how physical-world technology gets built, sold, and installed.
